Exercise to Bollywood music.

This dance fitness genre is the brain child of a person known as Shahil Patel. He claims he was born with two left feet but had a passion for Bollywood music that eventually helped him learn and lead bollywood dance groups in competition. He has led a dance group on Americas Got Talent to the semi finals. He has danced for Walmart, Pepsi and Cisco and performed with Diana Ross, Gloria Estefan and Jamie Foxx. He is the CEO of the company BollyX and where companies like Zumba base their fitness programs on Latin American roots, BollyX is rooted in the music of the Hindi film industry, known as Bollywood. Shahil took his efforts to set up Bolly to the Shark Tank. The American equivalent of Dragons Den

The steps for the dance fitness program are taken from all corners of the Indian subcontinent and blend with contemporary western dance to create a fusion between east and west. The dance steps range from simple in the warm ups and dynamic stretches to a little complicated, particularly when incorporating the Bhangra style. The routines are delivered to different levels, but the effort the participant puts in actually dictates the impact level. A step touch may be low impact, a standing bounce a medium impact and a jump can be high impact. You choose the step and therefore you choose the level that suits you.

The important thing about Bollyx is that it is fun, its different to the area of Spalding where the classes are delivered. It is movement to music, and in the whole ethos of Feel Good Therapy movement for health is essential, but given the element of fun, health is elevated by the addition of joy and what that brings. Some might wonder why it has been brought in as one of the services for Feel Good Therapy. The answer is in Shehnaz who runs Feel Good Therapy.

Shehnaz loves dance and specifically Bollywood dance, but running a business and taking care of daughters and then grandchildren as well as running a home has made it very difficult to incorporate dance and dance fitness into her life at a time when as a type 2 Diabetic addition HIIT training is a useful tool in avoiding medications to control her condition. Actively leading the classes means she can indulge her love of dance, address her health needs and in the process bring movement, joy and alittle of herself to the journey of others.

Bollyx calls all those who participate in their routines ‘Rockstars’ and their attitude is that every ‘body’ is a good body. This works in with Feel Good Therapy’s own message where the desire is to help people who use the services to feel good in mind, body and soul. To attain a life of joy and happiness, where your dreams are realised and your aspirations are met. Physical health is one aspect of overall health and in utilising BollyX the circle completes.
